My Weekly Film Reviews

This Week, We check out 4 Films that have Recently come out, and I give my thoughts

DISTURBIA

Disturbia is a great thriller, It tells the story of a Teenage boy named Kale who is sentenced to three months house Arrest after punching his teacher, and after losing his home comforts, he begins to Spy on the neighbours and suspects one of them to be a serial killer when he appears to see him kill someone,Its then a race againt time to try and mount evidence against him before he gets to him first.

The Suspense throughout the film is brilliant, and the tension was good too. Most Films fail at this, but Distrubia worked very well indeed as for once, it was'nt easy to judge what would happen next which is sometimes predictable in films like this.

Shia LaBeouf was great in his role, and looks a great star in the making after a debut in Transformers which was released earlier this year,If there is an award for best new actor this year, it should go to him

Overall, Its a great film, Plenty of Suspense, tension, and even with a bit of comedy thrown in too.Go and see one of the best Thrillers this year

RUN FATBOY RUN

Another Comedy, and another film from Simon Pegg following on from the successful Hot Fuzz released at the start of the year,This time we see Simon as a clueless guy leaving his pregnant fiancée on their wedding day only to realise 5 years later, she is the one for him, however someone else in the Frame of her life, and its upto Simon to fend off the competition, and win her back by running in a Marathon.

Its not bad as comedies go I guess, but I was'nt overally thrilled by this, Certaintly there are some very good funny moments, and will no dought raise a smile, but it does tend to drag a little bit in places.

Simon Pegg plays the part well, and fans of his films will love it. Its enjoyable, but its not his best film which is still Hot Fuzz IMO

SUPERBAD

Superbad is another comedy, basic story consists of two high school best friends (Jonah Hill, Michael Cera) going on a mission to provide alcohol for a graduation party in hopes of losing their virginity before they go their seperate ways.

Personally I think this movie was way overhyped. OK so it was'nt a disaster of a film, and I've seen far worse than this, but I just thought it was way too average, it trys to take itself way too seriously at times, but doesnt really manage it too well, I dont think in the entire 1hr 50 mins, I actually raised a smile or hardly a laugh, I wanted to try and enjoy it, but it clearly lacked some orginal content which we have all seen before.

It was still enjoyable to an extent, but there are better comedies out there IMO.

SHOOT EM UP

Shoot Em Up sees A man named Mr Smith (Clive Owen) delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen, but obviously doesnt know why, He then goes on a blood fest to find out exactly why they want the baby dead.

This Film does exactly what it says on the tin, Its a blood and guts gore fest, and really delivers high on the death count, and if you're a fan of movies like this, well you will love it. The Plot is quite basic and seems a bit silly at times, but supringly its very enjoyable, and keeps up with a good high action pace throughout the film.

Its certaintly a very enjoyable film. Owen is superb delivering a great performance, and the thrilling action, and set pieces will keep you entertained if you like films like this, but as mentioned, It is very high on the blood/guts/death scenes, so if this isnt your cup of tea, you might want to avoid this.

Definatly worthy of Gem Meterial,Go and Enjoy
